Year of DK Hats!

Back in 2019, Kelbourne Woolens released their Year of Hats and at the time, I was managing a LYS and put together a monthly subscription for the kits. I loved the concept of knitting one hat a month and then by year end, having a dozen hats to gift or share!

The patterns all used the same yarn (but in different colors) and could be done with one ball or less…so in the event there was a design that didn’t float your boat, or perhaps you found one or two a notch above your skill level, it didn’t matter—because you could use the yarn to make a duplicate of one of the designs you did love! A few years later they released the Year of Bulky Hats and for 2026, it’s the Year of DK Hats!

All of the pattern collections are designed using the corresponding weight of Kelbourne Woolens’ workhorse yarn—Germantown. This year, it’s their Germantown DK.

The January 2026 Hat, Callisto, is a stunner! The design features a tubular cast on, beautiful XO cables, and intricate crown decreases. A pom pom tops it all off and a custom KW tag completes the look. Click the button below to grab your kit!
